I’m still learning the basics of applying make-up. I am just good at it, I can say. I’m planning to be a pro in applying make-up. As a kid, I always sneak my mom’s make-up kit and apply my own make-up. I apply make-up like a clown when I was little but because of my frequent practice in applying make-up using different techniques, I pretty much perfected the daylight make up.
Here are some points to remember about your make-up kits.
1. You should replace your mascara every 3 months. Mascara’s have their shelf-life of only up to 3 months. If there are products that can actually extend this shelf-life, maybe they have a different chemical component. But for your safety better change them every 3 months.
2. Replace your foundation cakes every 6 months. If you keep them longer than 6 months and if you’re still using them, it will only cause breakouts and will only irritate your skin. You don’t want that to happen right?
3. Change your powder, blush, eye shadows and lipstick every year. Sanitary wise, make-ups also expire. If your lipstick has a rubber texture, don’t use it anymore. You don’t want that precious lips to be damaged. Our lips have the thinnest sheet of skin so you have to take care of it or lose those luscious lips.
4. Don’t use make-ups that have changed color, texture or consistency. If this happens, it only means that your make-ups are already expired. Get a new set if this happens.
5. There’s also a possibility to prolong your make-ups shelf-life. You just have to make sure that their containers are tightly closed. You should also put them in a dry place. Some actually puts their lipsticks in the refrigerator but it’s not necessary. Besides you’ll just have a higher electricity bill if you do this. Take note that we should be earth-friendly now.
6. It’s sanitary not to share your brushes and sponges with others. Even if she’s a friend, you have to make them understand your point in a nice way. Imagine if a person borrows your foundation sponge and she has a LOT of pimples with creepy swelling acnes all over her face. Imagine how gross that is! And you share the same sponge. The bacteria can spread and cause skin and eye infection. Eeeew!
7. Try reading fashion magazines and articles about how to apply make-up. Lean new techniques in applying make-up and see what’s best for your skin tone. Learn what kind of technique to use in different occasions.
8. Don’t be a copy cat. Don’t just wear something that you saw on TV during the Oscars from a celebrity for your girls’ night out hours from now. You have to wear something that really suits you. Otherwise, you’ll look as funny as a clown at the worst extent.
There you go. Hope you like my tips about wearing your make-up and taking care of your beauty kit. If you have other tips aside from what I mentioned above feel free to put it in the comment part. Share your make-up tips too! Have fun ladies!
